BEST THERAPIES FOR CHRONIC NECK PAIN

That niggling pain around your neckline refuses to budge and you can barely move your head or lift your arms. Neck pain is the common complaint of many. However, it is one of the most ignored body aches too. Symptoms of neck pain include stiffness in the neck, pain in the shoulder blades, and trouble turning head from side to side. Most of the times these symptoms subside on their own within a few days or with the help of mild stretches. However, you need to take your neck pain seriously if it persists. Leaving it unaddressed may lead to a major damage in your spinal cord. Factors that lead to neck pain include cervical spondylosis, prolonged sitting, working on the computer for long, poor posture, age, injury, wear and tear of the muscles, so on and so forth.

Therapies For Chronic Neck Pain

Ayurveda and naturopathy for neck pain

Evidences from around the world suggest that these traditional, holistic healing systems work wonders against any chronic pain including that of the neck. Ayurveda and Naturopathy are the best no-drug solutions for your aching neck. Here is a lowdown on some therapies that will ensure long-lasting relief from back and neck pain.

Greeva Vasti

This Ayurvedic treatment falls in the category of neck-specific, restorative therapy. This therapy involves the application of medicated oil on the neck region. A completely sealed wall boundary is made with a dough of black lentil flour in the greeva (nape of the neck) region. Lukewarm medicated oil is then poured into the space inside the walled boundary in a continuous stream. It is retained there for a particular period of time. This therapy offers relief from neck, back and shoulder pain, migraines and cervical spondylosis. It also improves neck mobility and increases blood supply. Our experts perform this so efficiently that the pain vanishes even before you realize.

Greeva Pichu

This is another relaxing Ayurvedic therapy, specifically designed for the neck and shoulder region. During this treatment, the patient is expected to lie still while a warm herbal oil-soaked cotton wool heals the affected area. The padding is changed with fresh warm oil at different intervals, constantly warming the affected area. The herbal oil is heated indirectly by keeping it in a container kept inside a hot water pan. Sesame oil or ghee is used for Pichu. Once the oil is hot enough to provide relief, the cotton is dipped inside, squeezed, and then kept on the affected area. Pain related to bones and joints is observed more in Vata dominant personality. Hence this therapy is highly recommended for our Vata Dosha friends.

Merudanda Vasti

This is another Ayurvedic therapy that can come to your rescue. This treatment modality is performed all over the neck, shoulder region, and back. It begins with medicated, aromatic oils being poured on the entire spine region within the boundary of a paste made of a mixture of herbal powder and water. The temperature of these oils is kept at an optimum level. Oil application is followed up with a massage to activate the vital energy and promote relaxation. This duration of this therapy can range between 45-90 minutes. A calming period of exercise follows the massage, which allows the activated vital energy to travel through all the channels. This is a rejuvenating process that offers more than just pain relief. Swooning over the bliss this treatment will provide? Begin your wellness journey with us and let us see your neck pain vanish!

Underwater Massage

Want fun, relaxation, and neck pain, all at one go? Underwater massage is your perfect match! This 30-minute treatment falls under the Naturopathy vertical. Close your eyes, kick back, and relax in the bath. This therapy uses jet sprays to massage your body with varying temperatures of water while relieving pain, removing toxins, and leaving you feeling relaxed.

Get ready to be immersed in a tub full of neutral or cold water. As you relax in the tub, a dozen jets in the tub apply water pressure over the entire body. The cold water stimulates the skin by diverting circulation to the peripheral blood vessels while neutral water provides relaxation. This massage is beneficial for guests suffering from spondylitis, sciatica, arthritis, and scoliosis.

Spanning through 45 minutes, this therapy involves the application wet cotton cloths (known as wet packs) to the affected areas of the guest’s body. They can be applied to the chest, abdomen, trunk, knee, neck, leg, and other areas of the body. The intention is to boost blood circulation in these areas and ensure pain relief.
