ABOUT WELLNESS

ABOUT WELLNESS

WHAT WELLNESS MODALITIES ARE OFFERED AT YO1?

YO1 Longevity & Health Resorts offers five core wellness modalities: Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Yoga, Acupuncture, and Reiki Healing. Each modality is delivered by trained practitioners at the 1,300-acre resort in Monticello, New York.

WHAT IS AYURVEDA?

Practiced by the great sages of ancient India, Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old system of holistic medicine defined as the Knowledge of Life (Ayu meaning life and Veda meaning knowledge). It describes the healthy and unhealthy states of life — mind and body — and provides methods for balancing unhealthy conditions. Ayurveda focuses on the wellness of every person as a whole. Since every person’s constitution is unique, the wellness therapies also differ and are tailored to each individual.

WHAT IS NATUROPATHY?

Human beings have remarkable recuperative powers that can heal the body without external chemical or surgical interference, which simply suppresses symptoms without healing or removing the root cause of disease. Naturopathy seeks to heal the body by promoting its own internal processes. It gives importance to internal hygienic conditions using healing therapies such as Dietetics, Hydrotherapy, Mud Therapy, Reflexology, and Massage, among others.

WHAT IS DOSHA?

Dosha refers to the imbalance in each individual’s body. There are three types of Doshas — Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.

WHAT IS REIKI?

Reiki is a holistic energy healing technique where a certified healer directs universal energy to the person seeking healing. This restores your emotional, physical, and spiritual energy and provides relief from pain, depression, anxiety, fatigue, headaches, insomnia, and nausea.

HOW LONG IS A TYPICAL WELLNESS PROGRAM AT YO1?

Wellness programs at YO1 range from a 3-Night Wellness Program to longer multi-week immersions for specific health concerns. Program length is matched to the guest’s wellness goals during a pre-arrival consultation.

WHAT IS THE DETOX PROGRAM AT YO1?

The Detox Program at YO1 is an Ayurveda-led cleansing program that combines Panchakarma therapies, naturopathic treatments, yoga, and a specialized diet. The program is tailored to the guest’s dosha and current health profile.

WHEN WILL MY THERAPIES BEGIN?

Therapies may begin on the day of arrival, during your stay, or on the day of departure. You can meet with a wellness counselor and schedule the therapies based on availability.

CAN I REQUEST A SPECIFIC THERAPY THAT I KNOW ABOUT?

Yes. If there are certain therapies you are interested in, please inform the YO1 wellness counselor or our front desk team. They will be happy to guide you, and arrangements can be made based on availability.

IF A RECOMMENDATION IS MADE AND I AM NOT COMFORTABLE WITH IT, WHAT HAPPENS?

Recommendations are made by our trained counselors after a full assessment of your health and wellness concerns. We recommend that you follow the program fully for your well-being; however, you are not required to participate in any therapies you are not comfortable with.

Please note that individuals suffering from certain conditions should avoid receiving therapies, including those with drug addiction, unstable heart conditions (including stent placement), stage 2 cancer and beyond, communicable diseases such as Tuberculosis, STDs, or HIV, Hepatitis B, pregnant women, persons who cannot walk a mile without support, those who have undergone recent surgery and are on post-surgical care, and those on life-support systems or life-saving critical medicines.

DOES ACUPUNCTURE HURT?

Generally speaking, some people may experience mild sensitivity or sensation throughout the body as the needles are inserted. If there is any pain, the therapist will remove the needle immediately. Most people do not experience pain from acupuncture, and there is typically no pain at the needle insertion sites after the session.

DO YOU OFFER COLONICS/ENEMA?

At present, we do not offer colonics or enema services.

DO YOU ONLY SERVE JUICE?

Juices help cleanse and nourish the body due to the vitamin and mineral content found in various fruits and vegetables and play a particularly significant role in natural cleansing and therapeutic fasting. Under therapeutic fasting, a guest is typically given a maximum of 4–5 glasses of fresh fruit and/or vegetable juices per day at regular intervals. Guests on a normal diet are recommended to drink 4 glasses of juices in addition to their meals to stay hydrated.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I FALL SICK OR GET A FEVER DURING MY STAY?

We recommend that you connect with your doctor and seek immediate care.
